The Criterion Free House

The Criterion Free House is a Leicester City Centre Pub that has featured in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for the last 14 years. After opening in 2003 The Criterion rapidly became known for its Real Ale, Continental Beers and Pizza.

The pub continues to go from strength to strength offering a range of cask conditioned ales and craft keg beers alongside one of the finest selections of bottled and canned beers in the city centre.

Our function room is available to hire free of charge and comes with free wifi, projector & screen and stage. More details can be found .... here.

Providing the perfect pre and post match pub for both Leicester Tigers Rugby Club and Leicester City Football Club fans our pub is often mentioned on Forums for both teams as a beer and food location for visiting fans.

As Richard III was discovered in a car park a matter of metres away, the Richard III museum and Leicester Cathedral are only stones throw from The Criterion. Other Leicester landmarks within walking distance include the Highcross Shopping Centre, De Montfort University and New Walk Museum and Art Gallery.
